HVAC Technician

We're looking for an HVAC Technician to join our team at Devonport Naval Base.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that support military training facilities, accommodation, operational buildings and site infrastructure.

About the role

You'll undertake planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, servicing, repairs and installation work across a broad range of HVAC systems and associated plant.

From air handling units and ventilation systems to split systems and associated controls, you'll play an important role in maintaining safe, reliable and efficient facilities across the site.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Planned and reactive HVAC maintenance
  • Fault finding, diagnostics and repair work
  • HVAC installations, upgrades and refurbishment projects
  • Servicing air handling units, ventilation systems and associated plant
  • Monitoring plant performance and identifying maintenance requirements
  • Maintaining accurate records through our maintenance management system (MRI)
  • Supporting subcontractors and wider trades teams
  • Participating in on-call and after-hours response rosters as required

What we're looking for

  • Trade qualification or relevant industry experience in HVAC, refrigeration, air conditioning or mechanical services
  • Experience undertaking HVAC maintenance, servicing and repair activities
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Competent using mobile technology and work management systems.
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Ability to obtain required customer security clearances
    including Ministry of Justice checks

Experience working in facilities maintenance or commercial environments and refrigerant handling certification will be advantageous.
