Cleaning Supervisor

We are looking for a Cleaning Supervisor to join our team supporting operations at RNZAF Base Ohakea. This is a great opportunity for an experienced cleaning leader who enjoys coordinating teams, maintaining high service standards and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and professionally in a unique Defence environment.

About the role

As a Cleaning Supervisor, you’ll lead and coordinate day-to-day cleaning operations across the site, ensuring services are delivered in line with schedules, customer expectations and contractual standards. You’ll provide supervision, coaching and support to cleaning staff, oversee quality and performance, and help drive continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Coordinating daily and periodic cleaning tasks in line with schedules and contract requirements
  • Overseeing scheduled and reactive cleaning activities to ensure high standards are maintained
  • Carrying out inspections and quality checks to ensure services meet customer expectations
  • Supervising, supporting and developing cleaning staff through coaching, feedback and training
  • Managing daily rosters and ensuring adequate coverage across cleaning shifts
  • Monitoring cleaning KPIs and addressing performance gaps proactively
  • Overseeing subcontractor cleaning activities to ensure compliance with PAE and client standards
  • Managing cleaning supplies, consumables and equipment in a cost-effective and sustainable way
  • Building positive working relationships with site clients and stakeholders
  • Supporting accurate reporting, timesheet approval and operational administration
  • Promoting strong health, safety and environmental practices across all activities
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in service delivery and site performance

What we're looking for

  • At least 2 years’ leadership experience in a cleaning or facilities management environment
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate and develop a team
  • Sound knowledge of cleaning standards, equipment and best-practice methods
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competence using Microsoft 365 and electronic reporting or scheduling systems
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and customer service
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain NZDF site and security clearance
  • A current NZ Class 1 driver’s licence
