We're looking for a qualified Electrician to join our team at RNZAF Base Ohakea.
If you're looking for variety without spending your day travelling from site to site, this could be the role for you. Working across a single Defence site, you'll undertake a mix of planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs and project work while helping maintain critical infrastructure and facilities.
This is a hands-on role working across a diverse range of buildings, plant, services and infrastructure within a unique operational environment. No two days are quite the same, but you'll finish each day knowing your work contributes to keeping a critical Defence site safe, reliable and operational.
About the role
As an Electrician, you'll be responsible for delivering electrical maintenance services across RNZAF Base Ohakea, supporting both day-to-day operational requirements and longer-term maintenance programmes.
You'll work independently and alongside other trades, carrying out inspections, testing, fault finding, repairs and installations across a broad range of electrical systems and infrastructure.
You'll also contribute to identifying asset improvement opportunities, maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
What you'll be responsible for
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Fault finding, testing and repairs across electrical systems and infrastructure
- Supporting minor electrical projects and installation works
- Conducting inspections and identifying maintenance requirements
- Maintaining accurate records through our job management and asset management system (MRI)
- Recording maintenance activities, test results and compliance information
- Working closely with operational teams and subcontractors
- Contributing to maintenance planning and asset improvement initiatives
- Ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and regulations
- Participating in on-call arrangements as required
What we're looking for
- NZ Registered Electrician with a current practising licence
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, infrastructure or commercial environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Sound understanding of electrical regulations and standards
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Experience using maintenance management systems would be advantageous
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain and maintain NZDF security clearance
