For over 30 years, PAE has supported the New Zealand Defence Force, delivering facilities and asset management services that keep critical environments working and moving. It’s a relationship we’re extremely proud of and one that reflects the trust placed in us to deliver every day.
As an iwi-owned organisation, we recognise our role as kaitiaki guardians of the environments and communities we support and we are committed to building strong, respectful partnerships grounded in manaakitanga.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Site Contract Manager to take full accountability for one of our most complex and high-demand sites - Devonport Naval Base.
Devonport is a challenging environment where multiple activities need to take place in a very constrained area, usually under time pressures. This role plays a vital part in supporting the operational capabilities of the Navy, leading a complex site where coordination, responsiveness and strong stakeholder relationships are essential, manging multiple competing demands and customers needs to be second nature to you.
This is a broad leadership role, responsible for delivering strong outcomes across people, operations and commercial performance in a live operational environment where safety, reliability and consistency are critical.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Leading overall site performance across safety, operations, people, commercial outcomes and client relationships
Delivering planned and reactive maintenance in line with contract requirements
Building and maintaining strong relationships with Defence stakeholders
Managing subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality delivery
Driving KPI performance, financial discipline and continuous improvement
Leading a capable team and creating a culture of accountability and ownership
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a leader who has experience managing large operational teams ideally in a similar industry, understands what good contract delivery looks like, and can build strong relationships while continuing to lift performance over time.
Proven experience leading large, multi-disciplinary operational teams in a complex environment
Strong understanding of contract delivery and performance against KPIs
Commercial acumen, including managing budgets, costs and financial outcomes
Confidence working with stakeholders in high-demand or complex environments
A practical, hands-on leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement
Experience in facilities management, infrastructure, Defence, or similar operational contracting environments will be highly regarded
The ability to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance
Why this role:
A leadership role with real scope where you’ll be trusted to run the site, not just report on it
The chance to lead a complex, high-demand operation with visible impact
A business that backs its people to make decisions and get on with the job
