Fixed Term Project Manager

PAE is one of New Zealand’s largest facilities management providers, supporting critical national infrastructure across the country including our long-standing services for the New Zealand Defence Force.

We are preparing to deliver a significant NZDF contract transition across multiple sites. This includes mobilisation and demobilisation activities, as well as contractual changes that will shape how services are delivered going forward.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to work alongside our Programme Manager and operational leaders to deliver defined components of this transition.

The Opportunity

This is a complex, timebound contract transition with multiple workstreams running in parallel. It requires disciplined coordination across operational readiness, workforce impacts, subcontractor arrangements, systems alignment and contractual change.

Working closely with the Programme Manager, you will take ownership of defined transition workstreams and drive them through to delivery. You’ll be accountable for sequencing activity, aligning stakeholders, managing risk and ensuring key milestones are achieved.

You will operate with genuine autonomy across your portfolio, aligned to the broader programme roadmap. Success will come from your ability to maintain momentum, cut through ambiguity and keep delivery on track in a dynamic environment.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Developing and managing integrated plans for assigned workstreams

  • Sequencing mobilisation, demobilisation and contractual change activities

  • Coordinating internal and external stakeholders across sites

  • Monitoring milestone performance and managing interdependencies

  • Identifying and mitigating risks within your portfolio

  • Supporting readiness planning ahead of go-live or exit milestones

  • Providing structured reporting into programme governance

About You

You are an experienced Project Manager who understands how to operate effectively within a broader programme framework.

You are comfortable being accountable for defined outcomes, work constructively with a wide range of stakeholders, stay composed under pressure, bring clarity to complexity, and know when to escalate and when to resolve.

Experience in contract-driven, infrastructure, defence or operational environments will be highly regarded. Advanced Microsoft Project capability is required.

Why PAE?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a nationally significant contract transition programme.

You will work alongside experienced programme and operational leaders in an organisation that values accountability, collaboration and practical delivery. The work is visible, complex and timebound.

If you are motivated by structured delivery, autonomy within a clear framework, and seeing challenging transitions executed well, we’d welcome your application.
