We’re looking for an Accountant to join our Wellington Finance team. This is a technically solid role in a stable, nationally operating business where strong financial controls and accurate reporting are non-negotiable.
This opportunity could suit a confident Financial Accountant who enjoys ownership and structure, or an experienced Assistant Accountant ready to broaden their exposure. There is scope over time to deepen both technical capability and commercial involvement across the business.
What you’ll be responsible for
You will play a key role in maintaining a robust control environment and delivering accurate, audit-ready reporting.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Lead month-end and year-end processes
Prepare statutory financial statements (Tier 1 for-profit entity)
Support external audit engagements and liaise with PwC
Assist with tax return and indirect tax compliance (GST & FBT)
Maintain and manage the fixed asset register
Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations
Monitor and report on cash flow
Maintain integrity of the Financial Management Information System
Reporting & Business Support
Prepare actual vs forecast reporting and variance analysis
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes
Support cost centre managers with accurate and timely financial data
Contribute to Board and ELT reporting packs
Manage credit card reconciliations and oversight
Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve reporting processes
While the role has a strong compliance foundation, there is opportunity to broaden into more commercial finance support over time — working alongside leaders to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
About you
You are technically capable, detail-focused, and comfortable operating in a structured environment. At the same time, you’re curious about how the numbers connect to the wider business.
You will likely have:
CA or CPA qualification (or be working towards it)
3+ years’ experience in financial reporting or chartered accounting
Strong knowledge of NZ IFRS and statutory requirements
Experience supporting audit processes
High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to controls
Confidence engaging with internal stakeholders
