About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Grounds Person to join our team at RNZAF Woodbourne. This role is a mix of hands-on grounds maintenance and stepping up to help guide the team. You’ll spend plenty of time outdoors mowing, trimming, and gardening, but you’ll also support the Grounds Supervisor with planning, task allocation, and keeping jobs on track.
It’s a great opportunity for an experienced grounds person who’s ready to take the next step and build their leadership skills while staying close to the tools.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out a wide variety of grounds and garden maintenance work to a high standard
- Assisting with scheduling and allocating daily tasks to the team
- Keeping equipment, tools, and vehicles clean, safe, and in good working order
- Supporting inspections, reporting, and quality checks
- Acting as a backup for the Grounds Supervisor when needed
- Helping foster a safe, productive, and positive team environment
What we’re looking for
- Solid hands-on experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
- A Class 1 driver’s licence (essential)
- Horticulture qualifications (preferred, but not essential if you have the experience)
- Practical, hardworking, and reliable with a positive attitude
- A team player who can also take initiative and get things organised
- Ability to obtain and maintain Defence site security clearance
