Financial Accountant

At PAE New Zealand, we’re one of the country’s largest providers of Facilities Management services. Our teams work behind the scenes to keep essential operations running—whether supporting the New Zealand Defence Force, local councils, retail, or even Antarctic operations.

We’re looking for a detail-focused Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and insights to support decision-making across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial processes

  • Preparing statutory financial statements and supporting external audit requirements

  • Liaising with PwC on tax return preparation and compliance

  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and upholding strong financial controls

  • Overseeing cash flow monitoring, GST, and FBT obligations

  • Contributing financial data and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

  • Supporting managers with financial insights and variance analysis

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • CA or CPA qualified (or working towards equivalent)

  • 3+ years’ post-qualification experience in a Chartered Accounting or financial reporting environment

  • Proven experience preparing financial statements for a Tier 1 for-profit entity

  • Strong knowledge of NZ IFRS and statutory reporting requirements

  • High attention to detail, with strong organisational and communication skills

  • A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

Why PAE?

Working at PAE means being part of a team that supports some of New Zealand’s most critical services. From Defence sites to local communities, we help keep essential operations running smoothly every day.

In Finance, that translates to meaningful work—your reports and insights directly shape decisions that keep our contracts, people, and services moving in the right direction.

We’re a practical, hands-on organisation where people who are self-managing, adaptable, and collaborative do well. You’ll find a culture that values accuracy and accountability, but also encourages curiosity and initiative.
