What’s the role?
We’re on the hunt for a dynamic Operations Manager to lead our Papakura site team. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you’ll be their right-hand in delivering high-quality, reliable facilities services that meet the expectations of one of our most important clients – the New Zealand Defence Force.
You’ll coordinate the daily work of our trades and maintenance teams, oversee compliance and safety, manage subcontractors, and maintain a high standard of delivery. If you’re organised, unflappable, and enjoy bringing structure to complexity, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Reporting to and working closely with the Site Manager to ensure smooth, consistent service delivery
- Leading a multi-skilled trade and maintenance team to deliver top-notch service
- Owning site performance: meeting KPIs, staying on budget, and ensuring operational efficiency
- Managing and mentoring staff – including training, development, and performance reviews
- Building a strong partnership with our NZDF client through regular liaison and reporting
- Overseeing site compliance, health & safety, quality control, and subcontractor coordination
- Taking responsibility for job scheduling, work order processes, and operational reporting
- Driving continuous improvement and leading by example
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years in a similar operational leadership or FM role
- Experience managing trades teams and subcontractors
- Strong organisational chops – planning, prioritising, juggling plates
- Confident communicator with a knack for client relationships
- Tech savvy – able to navigate work order systems and reporting tools
- Calm under pressure, pragmatic, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves
- A full NZ driver’s licence and the ability to obtain security clearance
