Senior Project Manager

About PAE
Run by Kiwis, for Kiwis—PAE is one of New Zealand’s largest providers of Facilities Management services. We work quietly but effectively behind the scenes to support those doing critical work, including the New Zealand Defence Force, Local Government, and Antarctic operations.

Our vision is simple: Keeping your world working and moving. We deliver this by focusing on safety, performance, and partnerships—and by supporting our people to bring their best every day.

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex or high profile projects across our portfolio. This is a senior role within the project team, with responsibility for end-to-end delivery, team mentoring, commercial outcomes, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll also act as a key escalation point for project challenges and provide quality oversight across the portfolio.

This role will suit someone who enjoys stepping up into leadership, thrives on variety, and has the confidence to manage both delivery and relationships across a high-trust, regulated environment.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of capital works and facilities projects

  • Managing project lifecycles across planning, procurement, subcontractor engagement, delivery, and close-out

  • Acting as a senior point of contact for escalations, strategic queries, and client interface on key project matters

  • Overseeing multiple concurrent projects with a focus on quality, compliance, and continuous improvement

  • Supporting and mentoring Project Managers, contributing to capability development across the team

  • Ensuring delivery standards are aligned with contractual, legislative, and PAE expectations

  • Providing portfolio-level visibility through structured reporting, risk identification, and performance updates

  • Driving strong HSEQ outcomes across all delivery activity, including proactive risk management and contractor assurance

  • Supporting consistency and excellence in project governance, decision-making, and financial control

What You’ll Bring

  • 7–10 years’ experience managing complex, high-profile, or multi-site projects

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction, Engineering—or equivalent experience

  • PMP, PRINCE2 or other formal PM certification (preferred)

  • Strong commercial acumen and subcontractor management expertise

  • Proven leadership capability and experience coaching others

  • Confidence working in regulated or critical environments—Defence, infrastructure, or similar

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficiency in MS Project and project reporting tools

  • A full Class 1 licence and ability to obtain security clearance

Why Join Us?
At PAE, you’re not just ticking boxes—you’re helping keep essential services running across some of the country’s most important sites. You’ll join a business that values trust, collaboration, and excellence, and you’ll be backed by a team that genuinely wants you to succeed.

We work hard, we solve problems, and we celebrate the wins—big and small. If you’re looking for a role where you can step up, lead with impact, and still be part of a grounded, supportive team, this might just be it.

What’s in it for you?

  • Leadership-level project delivery across high-impact sites

  • Real variety and autonomy—no two days are the same

  • A collaborative team that has your back

  • Opportunity to shape delivery practices and uplift team capability

  • Proudly values-led, with long-standing partnerships and great people
